New program offers tailored mental health support for farmers Earlier this year, a new province-wide initiative was launched to deliver tailored mental health support and resources to all Ontario farmers and their families. Together, we can break the silence. Funded by the governments of Canada and Ontario, the Farmer Wellness Initiative provides free counselling sessions with a mental health professional. Each mental health professional has received training to understand the unique needs of the farming community. The Farmer Wellness Initiative is supported by the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) – Ontario Division, in partnership with OFA, and aims to protect and enhance the mental well-being of farmers and their families. Counselling services provided by LifeWorks. This program will provide valuable support for the agricultural community by giving farmers easy access to a comprehensive network of mental health counselling and crisis services.
