ON THE FARM In the summer of 2023, Good in Every Grain travelled to eastern Ontario to interview and film grain farming families for our public outreach social channels. This was a success across Good in Every Grain’s digital platforms, and during the fall months of 2024, the team was able to travel once again to District 9 (Perth) and District 11 (Dufferin, Simcoe, Halton, Peel, York) to interview farmers Kaye McLagan and Daniel Chiappetta. We started the fall off with a visit to Daniel’s farm near Barrie to learn more about his growing corn crop and how it will be used following harvest. Next, we visited Kaye in Perth County to capture soybean harvest and winter wheat planting footage. Good in Every Grain has been using social media videos as part of its digital marketing strategy to provide trustworthy information about grains, food, and Ontario grain farmers to Ontario consumers. The goal of these videos is to introduce our digital followers to Ontario grain farmers and answer some common questions about the grains grown across Ontario. Daniel and Kaye introduced viewers to their farm and explained some of the many tasks that happen on a grain farm during the busy fall months. They also introduced viewers to the different grains, equipment, and the different ways farmers grow grains on their farms. Between October and December, 2024, Good in Every Grain posted a total of 43 posts of videos and static posts to Good in Every Grain’s social channels. During this time, this content got 640,000 impressions (number of times content is displayed on a screen), 218,000 in reach (number of users who saw the content), and over 430,000 views. The Good in Every Grain website saw over 35,000 visits to Daniel’s and Kaye’s interview blog posts. Additionally, comments on the various videos from Ontario consumers were positive with sentiments such as “Family farms are great for all of us.” Creating visually appealing and authentic content such as the ON the Farm series helps to build trust between Ontario consumers and Ontario’s grain farmers. Consumers can “meet” or see who is growing their food and learn more about the work that goes into growing Ontario’s grains. • GOOD IN EVERY GRAIN 34 ONTARIO GRAIN FARMER www.GoodinEveryGrain.ca WE’RE FILMING ON THE FARM THIS SPRING!
