Ontario Grain Farmer December 2025 / January 2026

GRAIN DISCOVERY ZONE 2025 SEASON WRAP-UP With the end of the 2025 fair season, the Grain Discovery Zone returns from a busy season of travelling across Ontario. This year, the interactive exhibit visited 17 fairs and events, attended 10 education days, and met thousands of children, fairgoers, and consumers. All the way from Ottawa to Stratford, the exhibit has been a popular destination for many fair and event attendees. The Grain Discovery Zone offers hands-on learning through a sensory grain bin, educational resources, and thoughtprovoking facts about our grains, food, and farming. The exhibit provides a direct avenue for people to learn about grains through facts, along with an ambassador who can answer questions. It is often difficult to find trustworthy information on our grains, food, and farming, so the exhibit provides a direct avenue where people can come and learn about grains in a guided experience. Sarah Lindsay, this year’s Grain Discovery Zone ambassador, was enthusiastic to welcome visitors to the exhibit. “It’s a great way for kids and adults to learn about grain farming,” she says. “When people see and hold these different things they might not encounter in their everyday lives, they become curious and start asking questions, which leads to learning.” “My favourite part is when children come in and see our bowls of grain,” she continues. “It’s really special getting to see when kids connect the dots between grain farming and their favourite foods; it’s no longer just something to play with, there’s that real life connection and it gets them excited about farming.” GOOD IN EVERY GRAIN 30 ONTARIO GRAIN FARMER www.GoodinEveryGrain.ca With how many locations and events were attended, it’s been a rewarding and impactful season for the Grain Discovery Zone. The conversations started across the province to demonstrate the importance of continued public engagement between consumers and farmers.
