ONTARIO GRAIN FARMER AGRONOMY 28 FARMSANDFUELSALLIANCE.COM @FARMSANDFUELS FOUNDERS The Farms & Fuels Alliance unites Canadian grain farmers and ethanol producers to keep value where it belongs — at home. Proudly producing the energy that strengthens our farms, our towns, and our future. We grow it. We fuel it. We power Canada. NEW OPTION AVAILABLE SOON Sikkema previewed the arrival of diflufenican, a Group 12 herbicide and a new mode of action in corn. It’s the active ingredient in Convintro Corn and Convintro Corn 12 (diflufenican/isoxaflutole + S-metolachlor) and is expected to be available in Canada in 2026. The good news is it will provide control of a limited spectrum of weeds, including complementary activity on Amaranthus (waterhemp, redroot, green pigweed, and Palmer amaranth) species. However, he emphasized it is not a stand-alone herbicide, but it should control emerged weeds up to five centimetres in height. Table 1.
