Ontario Grain Farmer October 2026

#FarmHerOntario From the field to the dinner plate, women are part of every stage of grain production. In 2026, as the United Nations marks the International Year of the Woman Farmer, there is an opportunity to recognize the skills, leadership, and contributions of women whose work helps sustain Ontario’s grain farms. Led by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the global initiative highlights the essential role women play across agri-food systems, from production to trade. Around the world, women farmers are central to food security, nutrition, and economic resilience, yet their contributions are often under-recognized. The International Year of the Woman Farmer aims to raise awareness, close gender gaps, and support stronger livelihoods for women in agriculture. Grain Farmers of Ontario is bringing that recognition closer to home through #FarmHerOntario, a digital campaign sharing the stories of women grain farmers through Good in Every Grain, the organization’s public outreach program. Follow Good in Every Grain online to meet the women helping shape Ontario’s grain industry and to celebrate the leadership, knowledge, and dedication they bring to farms across the province. • GOOD IN EVERY GRAIN 34 ONTARIO GRAIN FARMER www.GoodinEveryGrain.ca
