New Weed Control System – EnlistTM
In March, Dow AgroSciences announced the Enlist Weed Control System.
This new herbicide tolerant trait offers tolerance to a 2,4-D product and glyphosate. According to Dow AgroSciences, the system will partner with and improve upon the glyphosate-tolerant cropping system. It will enable broad-spectrum control against weeds and a large window for application that aligns with glyphosate timelines.
The Enlist Weed Control System is scheduled for commercial launch in corn for the 2013 crop year with other crops to follow. Regulatory approvals for the components of the Enlist Weed Control System are pending. For more information visit EnlistWeedControl.com or on Twitter at @EnlistOnline. •
New FHB fungicide for cereal growers
Bayer CropScience has released Prosaro fungicide for protection against Fusarium head blight (FHB) and reduction of DON levels in cereals, as well as protection from leaf diseases.
Prosaro combines two Group 3 active ingredients from Proline and Folicur: prothioconazole and tebuconazole.
In spring and winter wheat, Prosaro is registered for protection against FHB, powdery mildew, rusts, septoria glume and leaf blotch and tan spot. In barley, Prosaro is registered for FHB, net and spot blotch, powdery mildew, rusts, scald and septoria leaf blotch protection.
According to Bayer CropScience, targeting application timing is key.
• For FHB and glume blotch protection, Prosaro should be applied at T3 timing.
• In wheat, scout for Day 0 (Zadoks 59), when wheat heads are just beginning to clear the ligule. Apply Prosaro at Day +2 (Zadoks 60), the beginning of pollination when anthers are visible only in the middle of the head.
Prosaro is available from Bayer CropScience retailers across Eastern Canada. The full product label is available at BayerCropScience.ca. •
